Title: REV1-Guntersville Dam With & Without a Climb

Distance: 51 miles (REV1) & 41 miles (2 Routes)

Start Location: Flint River Greenway Parking Lot, 1173 Old Highway 431, Huntsville, AL

Date and Start Time: Saturday, 3 Jun @ 7:30 AM

Ride Leaders: Hunter Chockley,, 256 527-8643 (cell) & Raul Briseno, , 563 940-3888 (cell)

ROUTE WITH CLIMB (REV 1): Hunter will lead this moderate ride of 51 miles that goes first to the Dam for a Rest Stop at the Picnic Area (which is both scenic and enjoyable. Then the group will do the major Merrill Mountain climb and will return via New Hope.  There is a Turn-Around at the end of the ascent (due to possible aggressive DOGS). We will regroup at the end of the ascent and bottom of the descent. There is also a sharp curve so be careful on the descent. The cumulative climb for the entire route is ~1646 ft and the overall average pace will be 15ish mph. The link to the cue sheet and map is:

Rest Stops: 10.5 miles (Jiff-E Mart), 20 miles (Picnic Area) & 32 miles (Jiff-E Mart)

RIDE WITHOUT CLIMB: Raul will lead this slower No Rider Left Behind ride (NRLB) ride of ~41miles that also goes to the Dam Picnic Area & returns via New Hope. The anticipated pace is 13-14 mph and the cumulative climb is 972 ft. The link to the cue sheet & map is:

Rest Stops: 10.5 miles (Jiff-E Mart), 20 miles (Picnic Area) & 29.5 miles (Jiff-E Mart).

As of now the weather forecast looks good for a morning ride. If you have questions concerning the rides contact one of the ride leaders.

Bring a cue sheet and/or a map and/or Garmin to the ride and also have the phone number of the Ride Leader and the phone number of at least one friend.

Again, there are 2 routes - one with a major climb and the other is a ride with no major climb. Be sure you can do the specified average pace for the distance. If you choose to ride at a much faster pace than the leader or deviate from the route, then you are on your own.
