What is this?
The "Vineyard Point Medio" starting at Christ Episcopal Church in South Pittsburgh TN. The ride starts and ends near Stevarinos Italian Eatery and we plan to eat lunch after the ride. The food and drink are awesome as are the cycling owners Kerry and Laurie.
The first half of the ride meanders along the Tennessee River, crossing it twice. There is one medium climb over the foot of Ladd's Mountain and then a "YUUGE" climb up Sequatchie Mountain Road. It
climbs 1030 feet in 1.9 miles for an average grade of 10%. I think the peak grade gets up to 16% for a few spurts. The payoff is a rest stop at Vineyard Point with panoramic views, refreshments, and private restrooms. The descent is down smooth US41/TN150 into Jasper TN and daredevil descender folks can let it rip. The ride finishes up along beautiful Fish Trap Road (not the Grant Mountain one) and Sweetens Cove Road.
