Caution, there is a steep, fast descent down Robertson Hollow at 9.2 miles with limited line of sight over the crest, so stay to the right. Rest stops will be at Camargo Church of Christ 15.8 miles and Kirkland Grocery 29.4 miles. We‘ll climb Clay Jones, Slaterock Mill and Poorhouse. Generally, low traffic and nice roads but as always remain traffic aware. Ride link is https://ridewithgps.com/routes/41969723 Expectations: Please make sure you are familiar with the route. Bring a cue sheet and/or navigational device and have the phone numbers of the Ride Leader and the phone number of at least one friend. Be aware that cell phone service can be spotty. Text message may be the best way to communicate during the ride. Expected end of ride average speed is 14-15 mph but faster on flats and slower on climbs. Generally, riders are expected to stay together and watch out for each other. Be confident you can do the stated speed and distance.

Ride A Metric (RAM) Training ride The RAM series Distance: 10 miles If necessary, weather cancellation will be posted on the Spring City Cycling Club Facebook page. -- The RAM series is a collection of weekly rides that help cyclists advance their skills and ride longer distances. - Learn routes around Huntsville - Learn cycling safety - Learn cycling maintenance - Ride social - Ride for physical benefits The RAM series is an invitation by SCCC to local bicyclists. The goal of the RAM program is to prepare riders to be able to ride the SCCC All You Can Eat Metric Century (100 kilometers) on September 16. The RAM rides will start on April 27th with the basics of riding. Each week the group rides will increase in distance. Every ride will have a ride leader and a "No Rider Left Behind" policy. It is an excellent development program for riders to ride confidently with a group. Participants need to possess a serviceable bike and a moderate level of fitness. Wearing a helmet and having a tail light on your bicycle are required.

Third Sunday of the month is pancake breakfast on Lincoln Street ($10 cash). Post breakfast Monte Sano option for a total of 24 miles. Expect the rest stop at Prichard‘s to take approximately 30 minutes for the FREE tour and tasting depending on group size. Tour and tasting are completely optional. At 19 miles start the climb to Crystal Ridge and at 21 miles stop and enjoy the view down into the valley. CAUTION on Crystal Ridge Road due to steep descent and areas of bad road surface. There is an optional stop at Cumberland Presbyterian Church 24.6 miles for regrouping. The final climb is Fish Hatchery Road up to our last rest stop at Flintville Mini-Mart 33.3 miles, followed by a few scenic rollers back to New Market. Title: Huskey Park Belgian Horse Loop Distance: 36 miles Start Location: Start Huskey Park, 61 Florette Park Rd, Somerville, AL 35670 Date and Start Time: Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 9 AM Ride Leader: Fred McMurry 256-653-8655 Description: This is a scenic ride in Morgan County. There is a restroom available by the tennis courts at the rear of the parking lot. We will take a quick rest stop at Tucker‘s Corner store 9.8 miles. Final rest stop is at Curry Chapel 24.3 miles for a quick view of the majestic Belgian Draft Horses. No major climb but abundant hills and rollers. Parts of the route are isolated and there are some sections of rough roads. Use CAUTION on Highway 67 at 35.4 miles to the park turn at 35.6 miles, due to fast moving traffic.
