Description: Scenic ride into the Coldwater Creek area of Tennessee with moderate climbs of Poorhouse Road, Molino Road, Slaterock Mill Road and Robertson Hollow Road. Start location is New Sharon Senior Center, 783 Butter and Egg Rd, Hazel Green, AL 35750. There are no stores or facilities along the route. Must fully self-support hydration and nutrition. We will regroup after climbs and as needed to keep the group together. There are several churches for a quick rest stop. CAUTION, the route includes some rural roads that will be a bit rough in spots. The final climb out of Coldwater on Robertson Hollow has a short steep segment.
Expectations: Please make sure you are familiar with the route. Bring a cue sheet and/or navigational device and have the phone numbers of the Ride Leader and the phone number of at least one friend. Be aware that cell phone service can be spotty. Text message may be the best way to communicate during the ride.
Expected end of ride average speed is 14+/- mph but faster on flats and slower on climbs. Generally, riders are expected to stay together and watch out for each other. Be confident you can do the stated speed and distance.
